It's Greece Again |

Well, we began the week by waking up Monday morning to see the market turn on a dime and head downward. Although the current upward strength in the market may remain intact, investors were slightly more worried about the risk in Europe. The folks in Euroland are having their 17th summit in the last two years to discuss how they can possibly pay for all of their prior bailouts, and more specifically Greece. Greece is back in the spotlight again as they are looking for further financial support. This is while Greece has flatly rejected any suggestion that the legislative powers be handed over to an EU budget commissioner with veto powers over Greek taxes and spending. The European Commission stated that it wants to institute its monitoring of Greek finances, but Greece should retain sovereign control. Market participants are having somewhat of a flashback to last quarter when risk seemed higher than they have in the last several weeks. This had the markets trading lower in Europe about .75%, on Monday morning. More>
